In this book, a girl named Hero, along with her father, mother, and sister, moves to an old house, and there her adventures begin. As usual, on the first day of school, everyone teases Hero about her name. Only, this year, it's worse because a girl tells Hero's class that her dog is named Hero. From then on it only gets worse, if that's possible, up until the day Hero is told by her mother to go next door. There, she meets the lady who lives there and returns something her mother had borrowed. As soon as she gets there, the lady asks her name, and Hero answers. The lady next door seems to know alot about the origin of Hero's name, which happens to be Shakespearean. Hero tells the lady that her parents don't even think he wrote the plays! They study his works, but not because they respect him. In fact, they study him to prove that Shakespeare was just a poor merchant who couldn't read, let alone write. They believe that another man, whom they believe to be Queen Elizabeth's son. They also believe that Queen Elizabeth bribed her son to write the plays under the name of somebody else. He chose Shakespeare, and so his reign of indirect fame began. |
