Chicken Soup For The Teenage Soul
This series is full of books full to bursting with inspirational stories about real things happening to real people. They talk about friendship, life, challenges, family and more. In this one, it talks about being a teen and what other people have witnessed, felt, or been a part of. My favorite is a story about a girl who was always thought of as a "good girl". She decided, after many years of hiding behind this assumpsion that she needed a change. So she cut her long hair short, dyed it bright red, and even pierced her eyebrow to finish off the image. The next day, the same people who had once before called her the good girl now glared at her in the school hallways. Boy, were they surprised when they saw her playing flute, getting good grades, and conducting the school band! This story can teach anyone that you should double check before you call someone a "punk", a "goth", or anything you would not like to be called.
